Talk about cool new local art. Two New Yorkers want to transform an abandoned house near downtown Detroit into an ice sculpture for the winter.

Catherine Craig said she's not trying to hide another abandoned building in Detroit. In fact, she's embracing it. Craig and colleague Sammie Tuggle are painting a building on the city's north end that's been abandoned for nearly 10 years.

I've done that with watercolor on watercolor paper. You never know what you are going to get sort of like ordering a baby!

Lemberg Gallery Check out: MOVE, tonight, a performance by Orly Genger at Larissa Goldston Gallery.

Larissa Goldston Gallery is pleased to present Move, the
third solo exhibition in New York of work by Orly Genger. The
exhibition will be on view through
Saturday, October 24, 2009. There will be a performance and reception
for the artist ...on September 17 from 6:30 to 8 pm.

Move features
a new performance and installation in which Genger explores and
exploits the tenets of minimalism in order to “skin” the aseptic
looking forms, revealing their underlying “guts”. In a departure from
Genger’s previous site-specific environments in which the artist
arranged hundreds of large elements into hulking multi-ton
installations, Move focuses on Genger’s desire to contain her work’s organic nature in order to create an immutable object.
