Find Bob Massie a Liver Hello folks - We are going to Atlanta this weekend to talk to the surgeons there. I am spending a lot of time in bed and a lot of time online when I have the energy - your support means a great deal. Thank you - Bob

Find Bob Massie a Liver
Thanks for your questions. Many of Bob's family members are the wrong blood type. The other issues are size, age, health and anatomy. Some people stepped up four years ago, but the hospital didn't move forward at that time waiting instead until Bob was worse. Then we were ready to schedule surgery with a living donor l...ast August. This fell through (see bobmassie.org) Because we have been in this process six years, balancing how sick Bob gets with the medical options, people lose track of the need and the urgency wanes. Yet the underlying need does not diminish. There are not enough donors to get regular organs for everyone who will need them and a living donor increases the chance we can do this before Bob gets too sick. Donation carries the usual risks associated with major surgery but there are no long term health implications for the donor, the liver grows to full size in both people in weeks! We are grateful to everyone willing to consider this extraordinary gift.
