Susan Connell

Susan Connell An interesting article in the NY Times by the folks from Freakonomics talking about how as much as 30% of electricity consumption can be erased by increases in efficiency & productivity. This article also includes a link to an informative report on the subject from the Rocky Mountain Institute. http://tinyurl.com/by5nf

Thanks for sharing this fact. Rocky Mountain Institute has been demonstrating with facts and figures how our best national defense and financial savings has been in energy conservation since they were on the cover of Mother Earth News many years ago showing off their new offices that used $5.00 of electricity a year. We have been trying to demonstrate this too, with our energy saving appliances at http://woodheatstoves.com
Thomas Patrick O'Shaughnessy

Thomas Patrick O'Shaughnessy Definitely a compliment to the National and International campaigns to end Global Warming. California not only has great sunshine, we also have significant geothermal, ie. China Lake near the Upper Kern River, Water flow, and agriculture 6th in the world! California can lead us into the 21st Century with thoughtful leaders as US Senator Barbara, State Senator Fran Pavley and our Lt. Governor John Garamendi who with Secretary of State Debra Bowen are two of our conscientious statewide elected officials.

James Doser

James Doser Did you know that our lightbulbs make up a real insugnificant amount of the grid? Meat consumption and building cooling and heating take up an extreme amount of energy.

Orshi Nick,
my CFLs do that too, I think its an energy saving option that some brands come with. Did you make sure you got the same brand of CFLs? You'll get used to it.

Alex I think they should just stop (reduce by big % if not completely stop) making regular/old fashion light bulbs? And slowly replacing them with Energy Savers.

Nick Araya

Nick Araya I need help buying CFLs. I just got my first 2 free from the City of Burbank last month. 1 is AWESOME, but another starts out dim, then brightens up after about a minute or two.

Is there a source for recommended CFLs? Also, I hear LED's don't have mercury. Where can I get one?
