Peter Storey We stayed with the Orto de' Medici for 4 nights in late July 2009 for our 25th wedding anniversary. The hotel was just what we imagined and as fans of the film, 'a Room with a View' we wanted just that and got it. The superior room was so comfortable with a large balcony with views over the Firenze rooftops. THank you for making us welcome. Pete & Carol, UK.

We will be arriving at the hotel on Nov. 14th for a six night stay. Looking very much forward to our visit with our daughter who is studying in Florence. Hope we get the opportunity to stay in one of their newly renovated rooms.

November 15th the opening cocktail for the new part of Hotel Orto de' Medici in Florence. For the fans of Facebook group a short picture history of the renovation works. A long effort, lasted 12 months and finished in June 2009.

We arrived to a warm welcome on Thursday 1st October for a three night stay (ten minutes walk from the train station), us and two other couples... I booked online direct from their website three 'luxary rooms'; these turned out to be their... new garden rooms with plenty of rooom, fantastic large bathrooms, spotless - we had room no.80 which was one floor up; our large bedroom doors opened up to the garden area which was great for late afternoon drinks before we went out. The hotel staff could not have been more helpfull. Florence is amazing... the views from the Dumo are a must, but I would also consider it's sister bell tower for a view towards the Dumo itself to be more breathtaking. Pre-book the museums you want to visit as we did or you will spend a long time in the very very long lines for tickets. Eat out in the side streets and not in the squares - I can recommend Za - Za's which is only a 10-15 minute walk form the hotel, we didn't book but were lucky, it was packed with locals and tourists. Big tip if you want to save money... there is a very good supermarket off St Marks square, a 6 minute walk from the hotel that has a great deli counter, fresh bread, cheese, wines the lot for great picknicks - it is in the street that has the museum with the Statue of David. Another great tip is to go to Pisa which is very easy to get to by train, if you want to book the tower before you go this has to be done 3 weeks prior to your visit I think. Were there any down sides to the hotel - none, but we did stay in the new rooms - the hotle is three star but if this was in the UK it would be 4-5 star easy; I noticed before we booked grips about the hotel being too far far from the centre... rubbish, on the last mornnig I got up early to watch the sun rise over Florence from the otherside of the river - it took me 25 minutes to walk all the way from over ther bridge, across town and into the hotel for breakfast.
