Football Aid With all the contenders analysed and the competition entries checked, we’re now able to announce the results of the Football Aid 2009 - Goal of the Season competition. The winning goals, with expert judge Pat Nevin’s comments in brackets, are listed below -

No 1: N – Southend United - Daryl Savage
(“A shell of a volley,... unstoppable”)
No 2: K - Portsmouth - Michael Jenkins
(“Great strike, great vision and fine accuracy with a touch of swerve”)
No 3: B - Blackburn Rovers - Michael Roche
(“Cross Bar and no keeper would have saved that, pro or amateur”)

Football Aid would like to congratulate our winner Daryl Savage; his spectacular volley just edged out several other excellent strikes this season. Daryl wins himself a special Goal of the Season 2009 trophy and we hope to present this to him soon to commemorate his outstanding achievement.

The lucky winner of our competition (winning himself a position in our 2010 games) was Adam Pearce, and he’s chosen to play in our Everton match. The pressure’s now on our 2010 players to match this season’s excellent efforts!
