Lee Mental Health selected Fort Myers Police Officer Kristi Golba as the 2009 Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer of the Year. This is the third straight year the department has won the award.

The Florida Crime Prevention Association (FCPA) recognized the Fort Myers Police Department with two awards for outstanding efforts in crime prevention. Chief Doug Baker received the 2009 Presidentâs Award and FMPD volunteer Taunya Cola received the 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award.
