Entertainment Fort Smith Magazine On Dec. 12, hundreds of volunteers placed more than 12,000 evergreen wreaths on every grave at Fort Smith's National Cemetery. The effort was led by local businessman Phil Merry and others through the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce. These pictures, by Entertainment Fort Smith staffer Roger Carter, give a glimpse of the... beauty of the cemetery as the wreaths were placed.

Both of my parents are buried there. I visit the sight frequently and was speechless when I turned in the cemetery last week. It is breathtaking to see in person. Many thanks to those who pursued this very worthwhile endeavor.

Hi April,
Because it's too easy to cheat the voting online. We do it the old-fashioned way so we can verify the pieces of paper.
Maybe someday! But we think the honor of winning should come from a very exact count of votes.
