Tarrant County Homeless Coalition Each year, in the spirit of Thanksgiving and education, the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness co-sponsor National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, one week prior to Thanksgiving. During this week, schools, communities and cities throughout the ...nation endeavor to bring a greater awareness to the issues of hunger and homelessness.

Tarrant County Homeless Coalition, along with the Day Resource Center for the Homeless, Presbyterian Night Shelter, The Salvation Army, Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County, Feed by Grace, and other members of the community are hosting several events during this week to bring to light homelessness and its effect on Tarrant County. The Day Resource Center, Tarrant County's only day shelter for individuals who are homeless, will host their open house and tours daily to the public, to showcase the services provided for individuals who are homeless. In addition, a special exhibit highlighting the testimonies and stories of individuals experiencing homelessness entitled "Voices of Homelessness", will be held on the second floor of the Day Resource Center building throughout the week. In addition, the Fort Worth Library Main Branch will have an exhibit featuring photos by B.J. Lacasse throughout the week. Moreover a special event will take place at Unity Park in Fort Worth on Tuesday, Nov. 17, showcasing the park's usefulness to the community in the fight against homelessness.

We want to make the community aware of the ongoing struggles of individuals who are homeless, as well as the many case managers and service providers working diligently to assist people in their time of need during this economic downturn. Please visit our website at www.AHomeWithHope.org/nhhaw.html for more information about events in your area.
