Oprah Winfrey has taken a few knocks lately with a major expose in Newsweek, appropriately titled Why Health Advice on ‘Oprah’ Could Make You Sick. That’s a pretty gutsy move taking on The Oprah in a major way...

Honestly, I think thouse shows are geared towords dependancy. They seem to have the shows setup so that it hints you need to watch and be a part of this or your life won't have the quality this show can provide. Then, btw, please buy this from our advertizer to support the show. *PuKE* Urban sheering of the sheep. Most of the sotries are Oh My ... Read MoreGOshers! I can see the panties rolling forward on the couch every time. It's all POP Culture. In Oprah's defence, She is providing a service to thouse who would otherwise be lost. But then again her service is creating a gagle of zombie like brains that feel and think they are informed. Etc. Hate it. We need better educational shows. These carpet sellers are just a GAG.

Very good post though, nice topic.

For maybe a million years we have toiled. Long it seems we have waited for our present minds to dawn. Several billion years go by in the blink of a new-born eye. Yet, eternity will go by even faster when you’re dead. Why must purpose be attributed to everything...

So you want a Michael Jackson post? Well, this isn’t one, exactly, but I do want to indulge in a little ’80s nostalgia. One tiny twig of Jackson’s branching legacy was the music videos on Square One TV, a high point in PBS’s kids’ educational programming...

Yesterday’s New York Times featured an article about the popularity of football leagues for the home-schooled. As they often do, the NYT also published a related slideshow. The first photo from this slideshow: Obvious sign is obvious.

I found two really interesting summer camps for little skeptics. One of them is Camp Quest. I had heard of Camp Quest a few years back but I never really looked into it as a parent. There are four camps in the US, one in Canada and a new one in the United Kingdom...

Our friend Vastleft from Corrente has a new video out, this time a lullaby for all the little nonbelievers out there. And let’s be clear…. No one is born believing in gods (or much of anything else for that matter) so all our children begin life as atheists...

Mark Edward at Skepticblog has a post up suggesting we (skeptics, not FFW) take up “ambush skepticism“. Just a couple of the suggestions he makes in his post: Offer a tarot reading to the Watchtower person once you agree to have them come into your house to discuss Jesus...

Back in March, I posted about a hot news item about the Pope positing that condoms were actually making the AIDS situation in Africa worse, not helping it. I condemned the church for wanting to take away what little family planning already exists in Africa...

I know Greg Epstein rubs some of us the wrong way, but I think this contest is a great idea. Let’s flex some FreeThought Fort Wayne rhetorical muscle: Good Without God Essay Contest The deadline is June 23, and first prize is $1,000.00, which would buy a lot of Firefly coffee. Good luck!

Notorious religious nutbar Rev. Wiley Drake of the First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park, CA is inserting himself into the news again. Well, that’s assuming you don’t find the phrase “Fox News” to be a non sequitor...

I found an interesting article by Justin Trottier of the of the Centre for Inquiry Canada. It is about a book called The Emerging Millennials by Reginald Bibby that discusses that age old question of “Can we be good without God”...

The mild-mannered (though slightly eccentric) scientist sporting a tweed jacket complete with patches on the elbows is still the prevalent image that most people have of those who work in scientific fields. The truth is science and those who are passionate about it are anything but mild-mannered...

Today is the day when most of us Americans get a day off from work. We get this day off in order to honor the veterans of our armed services although many of us just get to the lake if possible. We often take for granted in our daily lives the freedoms we have and the security we enjoy...
