Suave Productions presents for the first time in Australia... Direct from Puerto Rico – Reggaeton Superstar NICKY JAM With Special Guest DAVID ROLAS
One of reggaeton's most prolific artists, Pina Records affiliate Nicky Jam has collaborated over the years with a long list of performers, including superstars such as Dadd...y Yankee and RKM & Ken-Y, and he has also released plenty of solo material as well, including popular albums such as Vida Escante (2004) and The Black Carpet (2007).
Born Nick Rivera Caminero on February 25, 1980, in the Dominican Republic, he moved with his family to Barrio Obrero, Puerto Rico, at age six. His father is Puerto Rican and his mother is Dominican. Like many of his generation, Jam initially got into the reggaeton scene during the 1990s and made a name for himself on the mixtape circuit.
Most notably, he can be heard on some of the seminal mixtapes helmed by DJ Playero around the turn of the century. Early solo albums such as Haciendo Escante (2001), featuring fellow DJ Playero protege Daddy Yankee on the title track, established him as a rising star amid the reggaeton scene, but it wasn't until Vida Escante (2004) that he broke through to a mainstream audience, particularly once the album was re-released with bonus material in 2005. His follow-up album, The Black Carpet (2007), proved similarly popular, spawning his biggest hit to date, "Gas Pela," featuring RKM

Where's Joe? are a mish-mash of guys who grew up in those heady days when Blondie, Weller and New Wave had nothing to do with a trip to the hairdressers. The days when youth had culture & when it was cool to be different but still belong.
Days when skinheads, mods, punks and rude boys battled each others in seaside town...s in England on public holidays. Days when it was ok for guys to wear make-up and a frown. When it was important to know your two tone tonic from your cherry red Martens.
Days when Holidays In The Sun meant more than two weeks in Bali.
Where's Joe? mix these new wave sounds with a fusion of good old fashioned soul and Winehouse-tainted groove brought bang up-to-date with grooves from the noughties. Enjoy.
Supported by Stunning in Red, the energetic duel vocal independent rock band, heavily influenced by the psychedelic music of the 60’s and 70’s has incorporated the feel of classic punk with modern scales and riffs as well as interesting and complicated drum patterns that will continuously interest the listener. Recently finalising the end product of their first EP, their fan base is steadily increasing with the success of their progressively more frequent performances throughout Perth and Fremantle, and are by no means planning on slowing down.

Rock Scholars is proud to present a handful of Perth’s most promising young musicians in one very special night.
Recent winners of the Bayswater Battle of the Bands, Blue Paradox, take to the stage to showcase their unique heavy, bluesy sound. Blending ambient feel and a penchant for good old-fashioned guitar trickery, ...this trio wields its big sound with serious maturity.
Fresh from their outstanding performance at Joondalup Battle of the Bands, indie newcomers Hype deliver their well-crafted, melodic tunes with a panache that belies their youth. Rhythmic, catchy riffs and just a hint of teenage angst herald this band as one that is really going places.
Rock Scholars’ all-star prog rock ensemble will also present a series of classics including Comfortably Numb and King Crimson’s magnum opus In The Court of the Crimson King.
The future of Perth music has never looked so bright!

South West Soul have been bringing their passion for soul music to the Fly by Night Musicians Club since January 2006 and with it’s fantastic friendly atmosphere, great dance floor & sound system young & old alike are returning time after time captivated by this music phenomenon. Come and see for yourself & experience... a night of music that will capture the nostalgia of a scene that has spanned 40 years and 12000 miles.
South West Souls’ four resident DJ’s, TONY ‘TBONE’, ‘SUZIE CUE’, BARRY ‘MR MOTOWN’ and ‘DJ’ DENNY play original vinyl that will have you dancing your socks off all night with an across the board mix of Motown, Northern Soul & Modern Soul.
WHAT IS MOTOWN? This is black American soul music - the “chart’ topping, easy listening sounds by groups such as The Temptations, Dianna Ross and the Supremes, The Four Tops, Edwin Starr etc. With its roots in Detroit City (Motor Town… hence Motown) which you know so well but… there is more to soul music than that…
WHAT IS NORTHERN SOUL? The best dance music in the world…..? This is a music and dance scene that emerged from the British mod scene from the sounds imported into the UK from America and played in the clubs like the Golden Torch, Wigan Casino and Blackpool Mecca in the north of England in the late 1960’s. the scene came hand in hand with a dance movement which was usually athletic featuring spins, flips & backdrops, very synonymous with Break dancing and some ardent soulies (who are now in their 50’s) are still able to pull off a few of these moves today!
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOTOWN AND NORTHERN SOUL? Northern Soul still has the same 4x4 beat of Motown but it can have a more stomping, raw, pounding beat which you just have to dance to on the mid-tempo. Tear your heart out voices, which can make your hair stand on end and bring tears to the eyes of grown men. These are obscure rare tunes on tiny labels by mostly unheard of artists trying to become the next “Motown” star. They are the sounds which Motown producer Berry Gordy didn’t think would make it…!
Northern Soul is HUGE all over the world – Come and be a part of it!
