Friends of Heath Trails got approval from the Park Board to move forward on the Highlands of Heath trail extension. The Board is going to get the City Attorney to look into the liability and easement questions and meet again in January to finalize the details!

Friends of Heath Trails It turns out the City Park Board will not be meeting on Tuesday. They are trying to reschedule the meeting. I will post the date when I find out.
Friends of Heath Trails Going to the Heath Park Board meeting on October 27th to try to drum up some support for extending the existing Highlands of Heath trail. The meeting is at 7:30 at City Hall. Anyone who can come and lend support will be welcome!

Update on the widening of White Road in Heath in the Rockwall Enterprise-Success. This project will include a bike lane.
The widening will not go South of Country Club road, so that section of White road remains closed.

Feb 24, 2009 Park Board Meeting at 7:30
The Heath Park Board voted last night to put off any further discussion on connecting the Highlands of Heath Trail to Antigua Bay until July. the Board felt that they had too much on their plate with the Terry Park construction, the work on White Road that will include bike lanes... (more on this when details are available), and the widening of FM 740 that will also include bike lanes (see Rockwall Herald-Banner article). There was also concern that there was no money available, although no money was asked for. So I'm not sure why money was a concern.
This does not mean efforts to connect HH to AB will stop. It just means the Park Board won't discuss this topic in meetings until July. There will still be efforts to obtain an easement from the two property owners to allow a trail to exist. If the City does not want to participate because of financial or liability concerns, then this project will go forward through other avenues.
