Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks The Governor plans to keep parks open, but isn't willing to pay for them. He has taken a bulls eye that he put on 100 parks and pulled it back to target all 279 parks with massive cuts and closures. Friends will continue to fundraise and marshall volunteers to keep ALL our parks open and healthy.

Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks State Parks are hard to close - let's continue to work on solutions that make this a needless exercise - a $15 vehicle license fee!

www.sfgate.com
(09-15) 20:46 PDT -- Neighborhood watch-style groups will have to do the work of rangers to prevent illegal activity in closed state parks unless voters approve a vehicle license fee or some other method is found to save the beleaguered park system, officials and park supporters said Tuesday.

Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks We will be joined by Douglas Brinkley, author of a newly released, groundbreaking epic biography of Theodore Roosevelt, The Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America.
The book draws on never-before published materials on the life and achievements of our “naturalist president.”

Inspired by our sha...red national passion for preservation, and ready to provide the very latest on the Save Our State Parks effort, we will also be joined by leading state park advocates former Assemblymembers Fred Keeley and John Laird, Friends Executive Director Bonny Hawley, and California State Parks Foundation President Elizabeth Goldstein.

Donation: $35 includes event admission, appetizers & a special toast (a portion of this donation is tax deductible)

Join us after the reception at Bookshop Santa Cruz, where Dr. Brinkley will read from and sign his book.

So, so true! Above and beyond getting rid of Arnold and his cronies, there needs to be a real and separate solution for funding state parks. There's a great article in the current AAA monthly mag about the difference in Oregon's state parks and California's. Oregon does it right, and its parks are far better taken care of than California's. CA needs to take heed and learn from our neighbors to the north!

WG, a Republic [ Elected representatives ] is the best method to govern/control our country. Re-read the Constitution. CA voted in Arnold to rid us of the crooks before - remember?! Or are you saying the non-elected really run this state ... and this country?

TD, Looking to better managed states is a great idea, but I need to read AAA article to know if it might work.
