Friends of the Orphans
On November 17, 2009, Friends of the Orphans supporters have the opportunity to make a huge difference in the lives of the children of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH). Thanks to the Saint Paul Foundation, Minneapolis Foundation and Bush Foundation, your online donation made through givemn.org will allow Friends of the... Orphans to receive a portion of a $500,000 grant that matches contributions to support community charities in Minnesota! Every gift made will receive a portion of this match and all transaction fees are waived so that 100% of your donation will go directly to Friends of the Orphans.
How to Donate
1. Between 8 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17 and 8 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, go to http://givemn.razoo.com/story/Friends-Of -The-Orphans-3
2. Select your donation amount and enter your payment information. GiveMN will match a portion of your individual donation.
That’s it. What a great way to extend your holiday giving at a time when our children need all the support we can provide!
Have questions? Please email or call Sean Breininger at 651.482.1703.
What your Donation Can Provide for the Children

$20 – A 50-pound bag of rice
$50 – 8 t-shirts
$100 – Anti-retroviral medication for an HIV+ child for one month
$360 – Sponsor a child for one year
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a minimum donation?
The minimum credit card donation on GiveMN is $10.
How do the matching contributions work?
Give to the Max Day is from 8:00 a.m. on November 17, 2009 until 8:00 a.m. on November 18, 2009. Every donation made during Give to the Max Day will receive a portion of the $500,000 match. This means the exact amount matched per dollar donated will be determined after Give to the Max Day concludes. GiveMN.org will divide the $500,000 of matching funds by the total donations.
Examples of how the matching dollars will work: if Give to the Max Day inspires $500,000 in donations, GiveMN.org will provide $1 in matching funds per dollar donated to an organization; if Give to the Max Day inspires $2,000,000 in donations, GiveMN.org will provide $.25 in matching funds per dollar donated to an organization.
Is there a maximum match amount?
Individual contributions are eligible to be matched .50 cents to the $1.00 up to a maximum of $2,500 per transaction on the first $1 million dollars donated on GiveMN. For example, if Ima Giver donates $2,500, the organization receives $1,250 in match money for Ima’s gift. If she raises her gift to $10,000, the organization’s total in match money from Ima’s gift is still $1,250. If Ima donates to another organization, the same rules apply.
How will donors and organizations know if the matching funds have been depleted?
A message will be posted on the GiveMN home page to alert users when $1 million dollars has been raised. In the spirit of Give to the Max Day, we hope that donors will donate throughout the day regardless of the matching funds status.
What is GiveMN?

Please join us for a light lunch or dinner while we share with you our latest news—from the effects of the economy at the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for "Our Little Brothers and Sisters") homes to the personal stories of our pequeños. We would also like to share our ideas for expanding the reach of Friend...s of the Orphans throughout Wisconsin in 2010. This is not a fundraiser, but a Friendraiser. If you know others who might be interested in hearing about the good work of Friends and NPH, please invite them.
If you would like to attend, please e-mail sbreininger@friendsus.org or call our office at (651) 482-1703 by Monday, October 26, 2009.

Born in Guatemala, Dora was abandoned by her mother. She moved to El Salvador with her father, who died a few years later. Dora lived with his relatives, who neglected her, then sent her to an orphanage. Soon, she began to worry about what would happen to her without a family or support when she would be forced to leave at the age of 18.
In 2003, Dora was welcomed to NPH El Slavador. There she felt she finally had a real family. Now 24, Dora is doing a year of service in the babies’ house. She plans to go to university and study special education or social work.
Dora is one of the 145 pequeños from NPH currently attending colleges throughout Latin America. Even if you are unable to attend this event, please consider making a gift to support these students and all of the children of NPH.
