- We support the Windsor & Royal Borough Museum and provide a programme of lectures and visits for members and the public. Some of the Friends are also volunteers at the museum store.
The museum has a display case in Windsor Library and small displays at other key points of the borough. We are looking forward to moving into the Guildhall, a venue that will do justice to the collections.
Members of the Friends are pledged to support the Borough's newly proposed museum exhibition space and in the past have purchased artefacts and display equipment. We hope to be able to purchase interactive equipment for the new venue. To this end we are raising money and our current activities are Christmas Cards and Windsor Footsteps.
We are registered charity no. 1115540 - Products:

Windsor Footsteps is now live and leaflets are available at many places in the town. These include the Royal Windsor Information Centre at the Old Booking Hall in Windsor Royal Station. The leaflet includes a map showing the location of each of the historic sites that are covered. The scripts were written for people standing in front of the site but you can also dial and listen from your own landline telephone anywhere in the world. From abroad dial +44 20 7098 7050.
The number of calls received has been so good that we are now considering extending the scheme. If you have any requests for sites to be included, please use the discussion board to let us know. We cannot guarantee to include every building requested because we need to be able to find out enough information to fill two minutes.
Windsor Footsteps is written and recorded by members of The Friends and sponsored by ComXo.
CHRISTMAS CARDS
We have available Christmas Cards with images from the museum. Some are sold out now but we have two cards with AY Nutt paintings available. See the photo album "What's in the Museum?'
The cards were available from "Cards for Good Causes" at the Thames Room, Windsor Library, Bachelors Acre and Maidenhead Town Hall Council Chamber Landing and the photograph of the skaters sold out.
We are already considering which picture to use for next year.
