We'll miss Scott's good humor, his dry wit and his propensity for coming down to the kitchen in his PJs and slippers for an early coffee. A fine craftsman he was too and truly one of life's good men. Holly, we share your sorrow.
Admiral Peary House Bed and Breakfast Kitchen's a no-go zone tonight after Derrek finished bottling the peppers Lauren gave us. The world's second hottest pepper is among them. Problem is I have to go back in there in a few minutes to retrieve the pizza. Donning my hazmat paraphernalia now ....

Fair is done, our seventh! Managed to see the world's largest hog, over 1100 lbs, and then of course I got my Falafal fix taken care of. We also, in honor of Don (our favorite poultry judge) wander through the poultry area to see what he does. Pretty amazing birds, especially the some of the pheasants. Half way through Fair week and we're still going strong (I think!). The foliage is amazing too. Admiral Peary House Bed and Breakfast Our last quiet night before the Fair and Foliage season sets in. Its all systems go from tomorrow until the end of October! All the new linens and towels arrived in time to go into the rooms and Derrek's Fall menus are in place. Still a couple of rooms left the week after Columbus Day weekend, but I think there'll still be plenty of color to see.
Admiral Peary House Bed and Breakfast Just finished brewing "Derrek's Best Bitter", my own recipe (all grain) and hopefully good. Tough waiting 4 weeks to drink it. The mash tun that I built out of various odds and ends worked great. Brew class is a month, book soon as space is limited.
