PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh police say a man used the global positioning capabilities on his cell phone to track the men who allegedly mugged him and stole the phone.

Police say the man was mugged about 1 a.m. Saturday by two men, one of whom pulled a pellet gun. The men took the victim's wallet and iPhone and made him give them the personal identification number to one of his bank cards.

Police say the victim went home, called police and, by the time they arrived, the man was using his computer to cancel his stolen bank and credit cards and tracking the location of his phone.

Police have charged 22-year-olds Bryant Rather, of West Mifflin, and Brent Potter, of Swissvale, with robbing the man. Online court records don't list attorneys for the suspects.

A participant in our user gallery has recently posted how he used his Garmin GPSMap 60csx, to help a friend in need. Without the GPS coordinates and a lucky cell-phone signal in the middle of the wilderness, finding them may of taken a much longer. Instead the rescue helicopter was able to fly directly to their location and bring the man in need to emergency services. Read the full post below.

“ Two days ago me and 2 of my partners when for a fishing trip in the wild. The only way to go to that lake was with atv since we don't have airplane. After 20 kms of driving and lots of pulling each other with our winch on atv, suddenly one of our partner begin to suffer of a chest pain. We realise that was serious and that guy had to go to hospital in a shorter time as possible. My partner had a cell phone and we were so lucky since our position was on top of a big mountain and we have been able to reach 911.
After contact with them I used my 60csx GPS to give our coordinate. They knew exactly where we were situated and they send an helicopter immediately, since the air ambulance wasn't able to come because of an other emergency. Wilderness helicopter from Wawa came to help us and get that guy to an hospital.
Thanks to them for helping save that guy.
