Harris County Democrats just voted to endorse single payer health care. It is the only way to be both universal and fiscally responsible. Insist that it is put back on the table as soon as possible.

WASHINGTON — The Houston congressional delegation holds an ignominious honor: More of its districts have more people without health insurance than any other metropolitan area in the country.

We already have rationing-even for those of us with health insurance- and huge bills that threaten our lives and financial survival.
Our health delivery system is not only unfair and unconscionable, it is also incredibly expensive.
It is the number one cause of personal bankruptcy, and one of the main reasons american workers are not competitive ... See Morein the global marketplace.
This is a complex issue that adds up to a lot more than the sum of its parts.
( Thanks Juan, it's good to know we are not alone!)

Donna, as if we don't have rationing now with the insurance bureaucrats. I better stop there, cause I have had a personal experience with this. I've heard Tea Baggers tell me that they like their Medicare a lot, but they want to keep the government out of our health care. Friends in Canada have had a much better experience than we are led to ... See Morebelieve. My wife's cousin has duel citizenship since his father was Canadian and mother was American. Recently, he fell or jumped(?) off a landing 15' high, and broke his ankle. He was freaked with a broken bone nearly poking out of his skin. He has no medical insurance, because he is not in group policy ($$$). His first thought was how much it would cost at the hospital.....$10,000, $20,000, or maybe $50,000. He rushed to a phone, reserved the next flight to Calgary, and was transported from the airport to a Canadian hospital less than 9 painful hours later. The plane flight alone was over 4 hours from SC to Calgary.
Don't get jealous.

There is absolutely no doubt that we need health care reform, but we need to take our time and get it right. Let's cover those who can't afford coverage (if they are documented American citizens). Let this be done on the state level. The federal govt needs to stay out -- look at SS & Medicare.

Gene Green "We need health care reform, and we need to focus on creating the best policy for our country and giving our constituents access to their members. Congressman Cantor and his caucus should join us in our efforts to cover the 47 million uninsured instead of politicizing an issue that has already been dealt with to create... panic.”

Does anyone here find it incredibly hipocritical that Congressman Green does not support legisation for people to present ID before they vote, but yet he is requiring it for people to attend a meeting.
