Fifty companies were nominated to receive one of 10 awards during the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce 2009 Business Awards, held Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre in Flint. While not all could walk away with an award, all walked away winners.

Learning the importance of giving back to the community is a big part of the TeenQuest training program. And the teens from the first 2009-2010 fall TeenQuest session showed just how much they had learned. Nearly 30 teens turned out in support of Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties. The teens helped o...ut at the Community Outreach Center, sorting donations and switching over to the fall/winter clothing that will be dispersed to those in need. The teens also helped prepare and serve meals at the North End Soup Kitchen.

The director of the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) at the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce will talk about all the services that P...TAC offers and how companies become state and federal government contractors.
Action Management Corporation/OI Partners of Flint also will be in attendance at the workshop. Representatives from the organization will provide information about how companies can take advantage of government on-the-job training funds when new employees are hired through the organization’s program.
