Geoff Dean for Sheriff I want to wish everyone a safe and very happy New Year. It has been a busy six months and the next six will be a whirlwind to the victory line. I look forward to dynamic public debates that will allow the public to see both candidates as they make a choice for Sheriff in the first contested election in 32 years here in Ventura County. www.geoffdeanforsheriff.com

Geoff Dean for Sheriff Very well researched article on the dangers of mixing alcohol and energy drinks in the VCReporter by Kit Stolz. We appreciate Kit taking the time to talk to many people about the problem and help spread the word.

Geoff - it was you who originally brought this important safety issue to the public's attention. I'm glad the Star is helping to get the word out more.

Geoff Dean for Sheriff I was really glad to read in today’s paper that our local community colleges are adding honors programs and more challenging classes for high achieving students that for one reason or another are shut out of the UC or CSU college systems.

Geoff Dean for Sheriff My long time friend Ventura Police Chief Pat Miller worked his last shift before retirement last night,. The Star did a nice article. He will be missed, but his future work at the federal level can help bridge the gap between local and federal agencies in the war against terrorism.

Geoff Dean for Sheriff Talked to a friend today who's daughter is embarking on her stem cell transplant – it is a five day procedure. She gets shots for 4 days and then a 6-8 hour blood exchange. Her recipient is a 51 year old woman with Chronic Leukemia. She is the youngest donor that City of Hope has ever had. That is what giving is al...l about. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone.

Geoff Dean for Sheriff An apps for a cell phone that the police, drivers and parents should love!! A mom of a teenager has developed software that uses the GPS phone technology to block texting and sending/receiving non emergency calls while driving.

As mind boggling as it is, MANY teenagers text while driving. I hate texting because the buttons are so darn small but it is a perferred method of communication for the upcoming generation. As Linda said - I LOVE this app!

Geoff Dean for Sheriff Police Chiefs John Crombach, Mike Lewis, Pat Miller and incoming Ventura Police Chief Ken Corney, and Commander Jeff Matson should all be proud of the recently released FBI statistics showing a reduced crime rate in many categories in their cities. This news is even more heartening given the economic woes that are being endured by everyone.

Geoff Dean for Sheriff As reported in the Sunday edition of the SacBee, the state is facing an ever increasing budget loss which will directly impact public safety in this county. We need to be prepared and have a pro-active plan of action in place.

We should start by eliminating all gun control laws so that citizens can defend themselves once the state goes bankrupt and can no longer employee public safety personnel.

Is there a plan for the budget crunch? It isn't a question of if anymore and I sure don't think bemoaning a lack of funds to the BOS is going to do any good. And eliminating the gun control laws ain't going to happen. Too many leglislators would lose too many votes.

We will need a strong leader in public safety and I totally think Geoff Dean is... See More the person for the job. I know he has a strong budgetary background and sure has a great abiliity to make things happen both in the department and in the community. We need someone proactive not just reactive!
