Mr. Basie shared with me so many pearls of wisdom - the funny thing is none of them were music-related! All about family and preservance. Treat others the way you want to be treated....period. Watching him commanding the respect and love of all his musicians (i.e. FAMILY) made me understood what is always so special about a group of musicians (... Read Moreartist) with a common goal and direction. He can "command" because he "deserves." I'd like to think I am doing Mr. Basie's legacy proper, but I still have so much more to go.....

In 2004 we had the great fortune of collaborating on a recording project with the legendary jazz composer/arranger/bandleader/saxophonist/NEA Jazzmaster Frank Foster (Shiny Stockings!). This CD is the end result and now in 2009, we are still very proud of the results. It even snuck onto the Top 100 in the jazz charts... when it first came out! Classic 17pc. Big Band Jazz and still very danceable, of course! The only non-Foster song is a Dawn Hampton original ("I Don't Want To Learn To Sing The Blues")!
