I have nothing against hamsters but when I come into a room that has a cage of hamsters, they don't react and come up to cage. When there are gerbils in a cage, they stop ammediatly what they are doing...they're very curious and lively..every night, I'm kinda of use to it now, but they chew on their cage, the plastic tube part of it. And Hamsters ... See Morejust sleep. But on the other hand, if you wanted to get a little kid a rodent for christmas, the better choice in my opinon is hamster because they're easier to handle because compaired to gerbils, don't run as fast.

A lot of hamsters bite, and most gerbils don't. I think gerbils are better for everything but sleep. They're very noisy at night.
