Best Birthday Celebration ever--On my way home tonight, I stopped at my local grocery store and ended up filling out a Booth Sale Star card to turn in at council, on the sharpest little cookie wizards of Troop 3008 who were smart as a whip, sunniest smiles, full uniform, knew OTM details, and could talk cookie lingo all night if we'd let them. ... See MoreSamoas went to my favorite checker inside the store, I get to horde some Thin Mints and OTM gets the rest of the $20 I was happy to hand over. Happy Birthday Girl Scouts one and all!

Linda L. Manos We have a second year Daisy troop of six girls. These little girls sold over and beyond their goals. People were sooo caring in giving to Operation Thin Mint. I am so happy and thankful to be an American!!!

We are in Santee and we are planning to sell what we have left. We have a couple of booths this weekend. We are finally going to get some good weather, so hopefully we'll do great. Going to push "Last chance until next year!" slogan.

Colleen Stevens Arellano I have a question. We have too many cookies left :) While we will be doing 3 more site sales this weekend, I am also wondering if there is a way to find troops in other service units that might need cookies?

Now I am panicing.

My service unit is tapped out everyone seems to have extra cookies and no way to get rid of them.

I will travel any distance to get rid of them.

You ladies are doing a great job! Continue to communicate with your Service Unit Cookie Coordinator to see if you can get another booth sale this weekend...it's going to be a beautiful one! Also, you can go to the cookie cupboard and exchange your varieties to make sure you have a good mix to continue to sell. Also, just because the sale ends doesn't mean you have to. Troops may continue to sell to friends and family after the sale ends until all of their cookies are gone. Hope this helps!

Girl Scouts, San Diego-Imperial Council Special forum about children’s grief, Thursday, March 11, 6:30 p.m. Escondido Program Center. Girl Scouting places a high priority on providing safe spaces for girls to share their feelings with adults. To aid Girl Scout troop leaders, parents and other adults who help children cope with recent local tragedies, we will... host a special forum at Escondido Program Center in Kit Carson Park (3050 Las Palmas). The forum is free and open to all adults, Reservations are required at (619) 610-0719 or mmautino@sdgirlscouts.org.

Childhood bereavement specialist and licensed clinical psychologist Lori Rappaport, Ph.D. will discuss how children experience loss and fear, how to identify when they’re grieving, and how to discuss death and grieving with children. Attendees will receive a list of community resources for child safety and grief support.

Dr. Rappaport specializes in working with children, adolescents and families. She maintains a private practice, consults at Rady Children’s Hospital and volunteers as a staff psychologist with the Jenna Druck Foundation. Dr. Rappaport received her doctorate at the University of Southern California and completed fellowships at Harvard Medical School and Harbor-UCLA Hospital. She serves on Girl Scouts, San Diego-Imperial Council’s board of directors, and is a national Girl Scout delegate, troop leader and service unit co-manager.

For information on supporting those grieving and to learn more about Dr. Rappaport, visit www.growingupgreat.com or www.jennadruck.org. For tips about girl safety, visit www.girlscouts.org/news/stories/2004/safety_tips.asp.

Michael R Angeles

Michael R Angeles What does everyone plan to do with their unsold cookies? My girls ordered 80% of our last years initial order and were able to sell about 80% of that. I am hearing that troops are alowed to take back unsold cookies. But, if the troop can't sell them then the troop is left "holding the bag". I can't believe that SDIC is... really going to hold troops and indiviual families financially responsible for unsold cookies! This will surely cause a financial hardship to some troops and families. SDIC will still get their money, which is probably why Cookies Now was adopted, while the rest of us are stuck with unsold cookies.

Thanks for all the feed back. I did not mean to be controversial, its been a challanging time. I just wanted to know what everyone was doing with unsold inventory. My girls and their troops have done fine with sales. I just hear a lot of low grumbling and concern out & about, but some are hesitant to say anything. Me - I don't usually hesitate, sorry if I rubbed anyone the wrong way. I think this is a good discussion to have. Thanks again.

Girl Scouts, San Diego-Imperial Council How do you plan to celebrate Girl Scout Week? Our website has some great suggestions. What's your troop doing?

www.sdgirlscouts.org
On March 12, 1912, Juliette Gordon Low and two other women met with 18 girls to form the first Girl Scout troop in the United States. Each year, Girl Scouts celebrate the birthday of that Girl Scout meeting for an entire week. The week in which March 12 falls is recognized as Girl Scout Week.
