Glass Houses

Glass Houses "Glass Houses" are built to come crashing down. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles pays sexually abused Catholics $660 MILLION. One victim when asked what he would do with any money he might receive said simply, "Where can you take that check and cash it that will make you 10 years old again?"

Glass Houses will come tumbling down. "In 2002, Boston's Cardinal Bernard Law resigned over charges he transferred clerical [sex] abusers to other parishes to cover up the scandal." ~ Reuters

Glass Houses - i will let neither a State's tax-incentive program, nor production companies, nor Ulmer Scales, or any other force(s) be barriers as to whether Glass Houses is shot out b4 the end of 2010 - i don't care if that means having the estrogen removed from left butt cheek so that i can get a refund in order to pay for 1/100...0th of the film's 1st frame(if you're calculating, you can't blink that fast) - think i'm kidding -

TITLE: GLASS HOUSES
GENRE: Neo-Noir/Crime/Mystery/Thriller
WRITERS: M. Bernier & Jennifer Fontaine

LOGLINE: The brutal murder of a transgender teenager leads a detective who’s haunted by memories and a junkie reporter to a murderous priest and a decades–long series of crimes, corruption and cover-ups.... See More

CLOSING COMMENTS: This is a tightly structured, extremely well-written thriller that slowly reveals its well-drawn characters, their stories and motivations layer by layer. The pace is breathtaking, and the smart story and sharp dialog draw the audience in deeper step by step, building the real, believable lives of the characters on their struggles with what to believe and whom to trust.

Campo is a strong, compelling character, a flawed hero unable to fulfill his quest of making someone pay for his brother’s suicide, and unable to protect others from the same fate. He, Angelus and Gloria form a trinity of characters, and as the story unfolds, we see and feel the torments that their decades-long involvement in sex crimes and the ensuing cover-ups have caused.

Supporting characters such as Bennet, his assistant LaVoie, and Campo’s partner Bouchard are captivatingly quirky and their relationships are fascinating and convincing. Captain Fotinos’ (Campos boss) propensity to break into Greek lends charm, and the ordinary Greek diner and the blue-collar are depicted authentically and warmly. The villain,..., is introduced early and the build to his identification as the murderer is well-paced and satisfying.

Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this script. It has everything a great whodunit needs and more, given the powerful mix of sex, religion and murder. It has the potential to be a breakout thriller, in the tradition of Se7en or Mystic River.

STRONGLY RECOMMEND
