Glitterins Put on the Glitterins Magic Glasses. Look out your window or stand outside in the shade. Hold your Glitterins toy dragon up to the cloudless blue sky near the horizon. Bend and twist your dragon. Make it dance. The rainbows come out of hiding and dance with the dragon.

Glitterins This is a Glitterins soft flexible toy the shows the rainbow colors only when you bend, squeeze, twist, or stretch it. This was taken using the sky as a second polarizer with the camera having a polaring filter. You can see this using the Magic Glasses against the blue sky.

Glitterins This video was taken during the morning of 9/5/10 in Brooklyn, NY and it shows how the sky works as a polarizing source with a camera that has a polarizing filter. Note that when I block the sky with my hand in the video the colors disappear. When I rotate the hanger you can even see the colors change like a kaleidosco...pe. The Magic Glasses alone or Magic Green Portal alone work just like the polarizing filter on the camera. some of our videos use the Magic Glasses or the Magic Green Portal but wind and focussing problems make it difficult to have the camera wear the glasses : ) Ha! The Magic Glasses free your hands to play with the toys and other plastic items that you find.

Yes, your hanger might have the rainbows colors hiding in them. You can explore many plastics around your home to see if there are rainbows hiding in them with the Magic Glasses and/or Magic Green Portal. We have also provided soft flexib...le toys ( dragons, dolphins, butterflies, etc.) that do not show the colors until you bend, stretch, squeeze or stretch them. These are slowly and carefully made for this purpose. These are not available except with the Glitterins science kits. The plastics like plates, hangers, etc. are mass produced by injection molding and so will show the colors without you bending them. See More

Glitterins Notice that the lens of the glasses control the transmission of light against the blue sky. That is because the sky polarizes the light. You can see the colors in the plastic plate and hanger with the polarizing glasses and the blue sky.

Glitterins The video demonstrates how to construct and use the Magic Green Portal with the Magic Glasses in the vertical position. You can use the Magic Green Portal in the vertical position wit ambient light, next to a lamp or window. The Magic Green Portal in the horizontal position is used with the light provided with the kits.

    • Glitterins That is exactly right. This is about polarization, photoelasticity, reflection and diffraction of light. There are many activities in the Book of Science to enjoy the science of light.
