Go Birding Tours Ocean Grove is home to many mongrel Lorikeets. They have been resident for several decades and consist of cross breeds between Rainbow, Musk and Scaly-breasted. These few frequent our backyard.

Go Birding Tours saw two Spotted Pardalotes at Blue Waters Lake this afternoon. A first for my records in this area. Look closley and you'll see a small white berry from a Coastal Bearded-heath in his mouth.

Go Birding Tours The weather was too hot for the birds this morning, but not for this Jacky Lizard out sunning himself on a fence post.

Go Birding Tours found numerous birds breeding at Blue Waters Lake - 5 Hoary-headed Grebes nesting; young Pied Currawong in the nest; two Coots nesting; Willie Wagtail sitting on a nest; parent Purple Swamphens with 4 chicks; Pacific Black Duck with 8 chicks, and a White-Plumed Honeyeater seen at a nest (this one was hard to spot). Great to see bird numbers building.

Go Birding Tours noted 3 new birds for Blue Waters Lake this month - Black-tailed Native-hen, Pacific Gull and Little Grassbird. Black-tailed Native-hens are not common in Victoria. At certain times numbers increase dramatically - thought to be as a result of larges scale movements after inland areas dry up after wet years. It's been y...ears since big numbers were seen here. Pacific Gulls not regulalry seen on freshwater lakes.
