Mark Deem Been years since I paddled yellow bluff - I remember best conditions a high high to a low low with onshore wind - seeing a 5+kt ebb next couple of days around 5 or 6 - good?
Golden Gate Kayaking It's Yellow Bluff season! Just inside the north tower of the Golden Gate lies one of the best rough-water training areas on the bay. Gain confidence in maneuvering, bracing, rescues, and more. Next Yellow Bluff classes are Sat. 10/3 and Sat. 10/17.

Golden Gate Kayaking First Yellow Bluff class of the season on Saturday August 22! We'll work on practical navigation on our way to Angel Island around noon, then late afternoon we'll hit the main attraction. Also, Basic Sea Kayaking I on August 23 and BSK II on 8/30.
Golden Gate Kayaking 'Tis the season... for sea kayaking! Next month, the summer winds will begin to die off, making for some calm, clear days on the bay and coast. We're seeing lots of demand for beginning classes right now. Our 8/15 class is full, so we've opened up another date on 8/23.

I took the Yellow Bluff class with Golden Gate Kayaks in April 2009. I had kayaked at Yellow Bluff a few times, but felt very intimidated by the fast currents, chaotic conditions, and the waves. The instructor, Andy Walters, stepped us through a series of techniques, so that by the time I was surfing the Yellow Bluff w...aves, I was feeling confident and excited rather than scared.
