Gordon Global Fellowship
On 26 March, the International Relations Society and the Peace and Conflict Society will be hosting a screening of the film “Home Free”. Produced by Jessie Thomson, a 2008 Gordon Global Fellow, and the Burundi Film Centre, “Home Free” documents the story and voice of three refugee families in the context of efforts to ...resolve the long-standing situation of Burundian refugees in Tanzania. A testament to the incredible self-sufficiency, strength, courage and determination of all refugees, the film demonstrates the importance of all three durable solutions: voluntary return, local integration and resettlement to third countries.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the protracted refugee situation in Burundi (led by Jessie Thomson) and protracted internal displacement in Georgia (led by Erin Mooney, instructor in the International Relations program at the University of Toronto, currently on academic leave from the United Nations Protection Capacity team).
Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend.
Time:2:00PM Thursday, March 26th
Location:Munk Centre, Room 208 (North House), University of Toronto
