Christian music is IT!! To me, regardless of the genre, the lyrics are everything & can impact people's lives incredibly - it improves my daily walk with God. God created us with different tastes in music, so as long as the lyrics bring Him glory, that's all that matters -in my humble opinion! :-)

Hell is also described as a place of darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. Hard to have fire and darkness and since fire produces light. Therefore, I believe that "fire and brimstone" are metaphors used to paint a picture of just how bad hell really is.

love the sweeping generalizations and absolutism with which you speak. Not every day we find someone who knows all. We are humbled in your presence.

And here's another: http://www.crossroad.to/Bible_studies/Message.html

"'But isn't most of The Message accurate?' ask some. Probably. So is the Jehovah's Witnesses' Bible. However, it only takes the distortion of a few key passages to reflect an entirely different message. When any part -- even "the smallest letter" -- of God's Word is changed, the integrity of the whole is lost."--from the above article on The Message

this is my first time reading any samples from the Message. it's definitely not for me. i'll stick with my NKJV or NIV. and alice, i enjoyed reading your first comment. God's Word is not to be distorted for modern agendas.
