David Elliot Jamison GrandMaster Lee, I'm a long time student of Master C and he had me to do that kick from Ktown Chronicles on three heavy bags during our testing on Saturday. Everyone was impressed. They said it looked like something from the Matrix.lol Sir, you really should go on the big screen. Your skill level is just ridiculous!

Grandmaster Taejoon Lee During our annual Hwa Rang do Black Sash Conference (held this year from July 24 through August 1st, 2009), Black Sashes (1st Dan & Above) from across the globe, gather at the West Coast Headquarters in Los Angeles, CA USA for rigorous training of the mind, body and spirit, led by founder Dr. Joo Bang Lee and his eldes...t son, Grandmaster Taejoon Lee.

Throughout the conference a great deal of knowledge is passed down to these Hwarang Knights from the more than 4,000 techniques available through Hwa Rang Do. In addition to the physical, a great deal of time is devoted to the personal growth of our Black Sashes and that of their own students, in their respective home states and countries.

The pictures in this slide show were taken during these 10 days of private training with the founder, Dr. Joo Bang Lee and Grandmaster Taejoon Lee. The quotations were quietly recorded in a notebook by one of the Black Sashes attending from Italy, during the conference and later shared with all other Black Sashes, as a philosophical summary of her experience.

We would now like to share these quotes from Dr. Joo Bang Lee and Grandmaster Taejoon Lee with you...

Grandmaster Taejoon Lee This video is from the finals match for children's grappling (7 years of age or less). For children there is no submissions. Points are accumulated by obtaining advantaged positions and for reversals.

This finals match features Luke Kim vs Jonah Sim.

Note: Luke Kim is Grandmaster Taejoon Lee's youngest nephew.

About the W...orld Hwa Rang Do Championships
=====================================

For the first time in Hwa Rang Dos history, the World Championships featured a total of 7 separate tournaments with up to 5 divisions in each which included the debut of Hwa Rang Dos weapon fighting methods, Gumtoogi (Sword Fighting) and Bongtoogi (Stick Fighting). This new opportunity for weapon fighting owes much to Grandmaster Taejoon Lees groundbreaking invention of the Hache Hogu (Leg Protector) armor, as an attachment to traditional Kumdo & Kendo body armor.

Overall the World Championships included tournaments in: 1. Open Hand Forms
2. Weapon Forms
3. Kick-Punch-Throw Fighting
4. Kick-Punch-Throw Fighting (Teams)
5. Submission Fighting (Grappling)
6. Stick Fighting (Long Staff)
7. Sword Fighting (Long Sword)

The mind blowing thing is that, many of the individual Tae Soo Do & Hwa Rang Do participants competed in every single tournament, with the tournament champions being determined based on their overall performance in all 7 events.

Competitors had to switch been uniforms and gear throughout the day, as a new event was about to start.

From the sparring event requiring head gear, gloves and chest gear

The competitors not only demonstrate incredible athleticism and skill in each event, but an incredible level of endurance to be able to compete at peak levels, with each event requiring the mastery of a different set of martial skills.
