Radon is a gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock and water. It occurs naturally in the earth, but can become a problem when it builds up indoors. It enters a home through cracks and openings in the foundation floor, walls and through openings around sump pumps.

In celebration of her third birthday, the Rutland Animal Shelter will be here. There may be some kittens here who are waiting to be adopted and at least one puppy looking for a home.

Pember Library Sign up now for a spot in our craft classes. Learn to make holiday gifts and ornaments! The first class will be on knitting or crocheting colorful washcloths. The second will be making an embroidered ornament using silk ribbon.

For the knitted washcloth, bring a ball of cotton yarn in whatever color(s) you like. You will need regular knitting needles, any size from 4-8.

Ray plans to start by telling us about the Native Americans who lived in the area. We’ll talk about the Revolutionary War era and the settlers who came here then and why they chose this area. During the mid-nineteenth century, many people moved here to work in the slate quarries.
