These photos are not the best part of this experience. The sound of music by Ars Antigua is the best part. This is a fabulous ensemble. The performance was the second of five early music concerts at the Byron Colby Barn (restored barn from a farm in Lake County) which is a venue for community events in Prairie Crossing and the surrounding area.

December 6, 2009, 4pm
Mary/Maria: The Sacred and Secular Purcell and Monteverdi

The Opera Company Company and friends present a winter concert inspired by Henry
Purcell's dramatic scena for Mary, The Blessed Virgin's Expostulation. Both Purcell

found in songs and duets written for the court and theater.

Featuring
Jenny Haworth, soprano • Kirsten Hedegaard, soprano
Tom Crawford, countertenor • William Bouvel, tenor • Oliver Camacho, tenor
Dan Richardson, bass-baritone
Phillip Serna, viola da gamba • Mark Shuldiner, harpsichord • Joel Spears, theorbo

Jason Moy is a formidable harpsicordist. We feel so privileged to have been able to able to enjoy his unique talents presented here in our own community. No long trips in the car or on the train. Just right here. The venue of the Byron Colby Barn could not be more suited for this type of music and instrumental performance. We have subscribed since the beginning 8 years ago and highly recommend that you subscribe!

Thank you, Carol, for such a wonderful comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed the performance. It was a pleasure and joy for me and my harpsichord to pay a visit to such a beautiful community for an afternoon of Early Music-making!
