Dear Fans,
Happy new year from our herd to yours!
Wow, how amazing! We've got more referrals than we've had in months, our census and sessions are up, but the public and foundation funding is still just awful.
We're working hard to do the right things - teaming with a for-profit for cost savings, doing publicity for services, down-sizing the herd for a more nimble financial position, renting out the arena, and shopping a business plan/pro forma to potential investors/donors.
Now we've been invited to a business development opportunity with Epona (www.taoofequus.com) "Pioneering Spirit: Leadership for the 21st Century" and some possible cooperative business development opportunities.
Want to help us out in these new directions? Have expertise in business plans? New business development? Materials development? AND want to provide some pro bono services to a hard-working and creative nonprofit?

My agency newsletter just came out and one of my colleagues posted this great idea:
"This year in lieu of gifts, my friends and family and I are spending time finding out more about what “causes” each of us support and making charitable contributions in the name of each person. Instead of a wrapped gift, the recipients receive a card with information about the charity that received the contribution in their name (most charities also will send a letter or card directly to the honoree, as well).
It has been a wonderful way to get to know something new about each of the special people in my life and to share my list of organizations and causes that mean a lot to me. It was the subject of our Thanksgiving table conversation and has also given us a much better knowledge about some of the very fine organizations that are doing amazing work in communities around the country. Best of all, it helps others in need."

It has been a very challenging year for us. For the second year in a row, we lost public funding. Funding essential to completing the work necessary to make our core operations sustainable. Essential to our immediate survival. We are working very hard to maintain our presence in the community as we tighten our belts for the long winter ahead. We feel the need of the increasing number of clients arriving at the farm, each seeking a path through these times of uncertainty and stress. These times, where other support systems are falling away.

Dear Staff, Board and Friends,
Teen Strides wants to help Great Strides by raising money to pay for horse expenses. We are having a bake sale on November 15 and 16 at the Damascus Safeway from 11a-2pm.
We need to collect alot of baked goods to make this a success. If you are able to help us out by donating a baked good, we would appreciate your help. Please let me know if you are interested. You can drop your items off in the office next week.
