I think it's remarkable that Jane Rands got 1,126 votes in a district with only 1,005 registered Green voters, and this in an election with an 18% turnout. Clearly, she's appealing to plenty of folks outside the party.

"If you were a neocon, you couldn't do more harm"

If I were a neocon I would hope that any drug law reform talk never sees the light of day. If I were a neocon I would want people to live in ignorance about hemp, pot, and allows us to spend the incredible amount of money we waste on the war on drugs.

Also, how does it help any political party not to talk about an important issues? Let's not talk about gay rights because that offends some parents who would never vote Green. Let's not talk about ending the wars overseas because that might stop some parents from taking us serious. ... Read More

Part of what makes the Green Party my party of choice is because we are not afraid to discuss the issues the other parties won't.

I call them the 'corporate-sponsored parties'. The problem I see with 'advertised parties' is that it means Greens can never advertise, or we'll be seen as hypocritical. However, we'll never take corporate money, and if we did we would rightly be seen as hypocrites. So 'corporate-sponsored parties' clearly highlights what sets us apart from them, ... When the discussion is about "major" vs "minor" parties, I use the terms 'establishment parties' and 'independent parties'.

Framing is really important. Every Green convention should have a workshop on framing (it's nice that you can basically learn all the lessons of Lakoff's 'don't think of an elephant' in 45 minutes).
