Greenwood Cemetery is beginning to see Christmas decorations arriving here and there. The most interesting ever is a cute Santa Clause sitting on the new Malinen park bench with little accents below. Someone needs to come and take a photo! Our camera is broken, and this is really an adorable sight. Come before it rains and see her Santa.

Greenwood Cemetery still has a few western bluebirds enjoying the little green worms in the grass, providing much enjoyment for those with binoculars. They are a bit shy, you know.

Greenwood Cemetery is having a new granite bench delivered tomorrow for one of our families. It's so nice to sit, enjoy the view of the river and sunsets, and just... We have some spaces available for other companion benches, if you know anyone interested.

Greenwood Cemetery is anticipating a good storm tomorrow. Glad the equipment is under cover, and glad for a good woodstove.

Greenwood Cemetery saw a large, swirling flock of mountain blue birds yesterday. They were summoning our small group, which stays about two weeks each fall, to join them. We are ever amazed at them coming so far west for their short sojourn, giving us much joy. How blue they are!

Greenwood Cemetery is glad that the Historic Cemetery Commission meeting went very well for Michael. There is much to do to pave the way for preservation of all this history. Folks really are interested. Now...if we could only figure out how to reduce property taxes on the caretaker's residence connected to the cemetery.

Greenwood Cemetery is sending Michael to his first meeting as the coastal representative at the Oregon Historical Cemetery Commission. He will be presenting a paper concerning the repare, preservation, etc. of historical memorial stones. We hope to glean information that might help the pioneer cemeteries in our area. Thanks for your support.

Greenwood Cemetery Happy Autumn to you all. We've been rather occupied with preparing for the winter, covering the mowers, storing equipment, gleaning from the garden, bringing in the firewood, etc. It's a lovely time here at the beach, but the rains are coming. We've left the last of the dandelions for the honey bees which are madly ...gathering pollen. Enjoy the sunshine!

Greenwood Cemetery is still enjoying clean-up of the blown down trees from the Dec. 2007 hurricane storm. Wedges of Douglas fir, cedar, hemlock, flowering cherry, etc. have been stacked in for heating our home this winter. Blessings from disaster. The woods are even more beautiful than before, with abundant red huckleberries still being picked.

Greenwood Cemetery had visitors in the wee hours of the morning! Not nice for him who had to go and inform them that the cemetery was closed. They had a bit of trouble backing around, and the garbage can does still work, but we hope people will honor the daylight hours only rule. It makes it so much more peaceful for everyone!

Greenwood Cemetery is enjoying the soft rains of the day. However, the spiders are doing their autumn routine, and the starlings have begun to flock and do their synchronized flying. Hmmm. Could be an early winter, but we hope not.

Greenwood Cemetery is loving this perfect August day. More hair-cutting, visits from wonderful people, history-telling, and the glitter of sunshine on Young's River. Hope you all are as blessed with this peaceful, glorious day.

Greenwood Cemetery continues to get its hair cut in hour-long sessions. Unfortunate that the growth occurs right behind the mower. Sort of like children and picking up their toys. Sigh! The cemetery has also been surrounded by delicious little mountain blackberries & larger-than-normal red huckleberries, both wonderful for baking. N...ow the big blackberries are juicing in the sun, and the deer are enjoying nibbling them off the vine

Greenwood Cemetery is basking in the warm sunshine toay. Tourists have been enjoying the historic monuments and the beautiful view of Young's Bay. It's a lovely time of year.
