The Formosa Plastics Company in Point Comfort TX was just slapped with a huge multi-million dollar fine & required to invest 10 M in monitoring and anti-leakage equipment to keep vinyl chloride, ethylene dichloride & other PVC manufacturing related emissions out of the local / regional air-water shed. These people are... the nastiest industrial neighbors one could hope never to live near (& their plant in Baton Rouge as well) & they have thumbed their noses at the Clean Air / Clean water act for 2 1/2 decades. Workers are sick & the town of Port Lavaca is under their thumb because they are the only employer of consequence. I don't make a dime off theplace, been banned by DailyKos for slugging Dems and Repubs withempirical data of their campaign contri...butions that seem to effect howthey vote on legislation (imagine that!) so w...e're like the "punk"version of the mainstream blogs. It would really "irk" all the peoplethat banned our whole lot and don't even give the minimal amount ofscrutiny of their elected reps (whether they voted for them or not). Also, we're huge fans of reporters like you, Scahill, Taibbi, Sirota,etc. It would mean alot but I understand if ya can't with all the workyou do. Trying to get my hands on the DMZ you signed but I don't gotthe cash money. Broke like no joke. Here's hopin.
