On September 8th we hosted a delegation from Japan at our Wood St. Urban Farm, who were very interested in urban agriculture and social enterprise. The delegation were guests of the Chicago Community Loan Fund, one of our partners.

Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for graduation this year. We had a great time! In addition to the presentation of graduation certificates, a number of interns read from pieces they had written in a writing workshop offered by the Community Writing Project...

The end of the 2009 job training program here at Growing Home is coming to a close. I can tell it in many ways: partially, because I associate the cool weather and short days with a change in my day-to-day work...

It might not look like it over in the widget on the left-hand side, but we've gotten pretty far already in our Board of Directors Challenge Grant. A lot of money is coming in through the mail, which means it doesn't show up in the donation widget.....

Over at the New York Times, Michael Pollan has a fun slideshow of "food rules" sent in by readers. Four of Growing Home's staff went to hear Pollan speak at Ravinia about a week ago - what a great speaker!
