Guillemot Kayaks The originator of the Ganymede was a 7' x 19" childs kayak I made for my nephew

Guillemot Kayaks I took Ganymede out for a paddle with the Tuesday Night Paddlers group last night. She moved along nicely. It was not hard to keep up with a group of longer/narrower sea kayaks. The conditions were pretty flat, but the occasional boat wake did not phase her. She cut through easily without getting me wet. There is a little pounding due to the flat bottom, but it was not offensive.

Guillemot Kayaks (almost) completed Ganymede. After a few weeks off for vacation I got back, sanded the epoxy and got a quick coat of varnish and paint on it.

Guillemot Kayaks She Floats! Dropped Ganymede in the water for a quick float test. Initial impression is good. Easy to paddle, comfortable stability without being a barge, tracks reasonably straight, but carves a nice turn. Now time for sanding and varnishing.

Guillemot Kayaks Got a fill coat on the hull and coaming of the Ganymede. Glassed the coaming of the S&G NH, fill coat on deck, finished gluing up rear hatch, and another fill coat on the deck.

Guillemot Kayaks Glassed the coaming of Ganymede and Night Heron. Also a fill coat on Ganymede.

Guillemot Kayaks Glued up the coamings on the Ganymede and S&G Night Heron and did some glassing of hatch parts for the NH.

Guillemot Kayaks The deck of the Ganymede is now glassed. Tomorrow the coaming.

Guillemot Kayaks Found time to do the other inside seam of the Ganymede. I'm also finishing up a S&G NH I started back in January (hatch parts glassed), and a Matunuck surf kayak I started about 4 years ago (seams rounded). I don't think the Matunuck will be done in time for Hurricane Bill. Maintenance work on my Petrel is complete so some long-boat surfing may be the order of the day this weekend.

Guillemot Kayaks I've had time to glass one inside seam today. I need to go paddling so the other side can wait.
