"The Call of Cthulhu" is EXCLUSIVELY DISTRIBUTED by Microcinema DVD. To order this DVD and/or other Microcinema titles, go to: www.microcinemadvd.com.
Synopsis: The Call of Cthulhu, an all new silent film, is HP Lovecraft's most famous story. It is the only story to feature the celebrated monster Cthulhu and in many way...s it encapsulates the ideas that went on to permeated Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. The film follows the story's three-part narrative construction, and it moves from the 1920s to 1908 to the1870s and back, as the story does. The story embodies HPL's nihilistic world view, his cosmic perspective, and his sense that mankind is doomed by its own insignificance. And it's a pretty good globe-trotting adventure story.
(Spoiler Warning) In the story, a dying professor leaves his great-nephew a collection of documents pertaining to the Cthulhu Cult. The nephew begins to learn why the study of the cult so fascinated his grandfather. Bit-by-bit he begins piecing together the dread implications of his grandfather's inquiries, and soon he takes on investigating the Cthulhu cult as a crusade of his own. As he pieces together the dreadful and disturbing reality of the situation, his own sanity begins to crumble. In the end, he passes the torch to his psychiatrist, who in turn hears Cthulhu's call.

H.P. Lovecraft Collection
"The H.P. Lovecraft Collection ® Vol. 5: Strange Aeons" is EXCLUSIVELY DISTRIBUTED by Microcinema DVD. To order this DVD and/or other Microcinema titles, go to: www.microcinemadvd.com.
Synopsis: H.P. Lovecraft® (b August 20, 1890, d. March 15, 1937) is considered to be one of the greatest writers of horror fiction since... Edgar Allan Poe. His influence on modern horror has been enormous both in print and in film, and stems from his fusing the best traditions of gothic horror on both sides of the Atlantic, and blending in elements of science fiction thus popularizing the notion of "cosmic horror."
Adapting Lovecraft to the big screen has never been an easy task given the structure of his stories and the emphasis on atmosphere over action. Screenwriter Kelly Young of Maelstrom Productions had this to say about adapting the works of H.P. Lovecraft to the screen, "I feel that The Thing on the Doorstep is absolutely the most film-friendly of Lovecraft's works in that it fits into a three-act structure and has a strong female presence."
The Thing on the Doorstep is a unique story about an unfortunate marriage between a precocious scholar (Edward Derby) and a young heiress (Asenath Waite) who has mysterious hypnotic powers. Edward soon after their marriage exhibits severe mood swings and radical personality changes. What is the source of Asenanth's sway over Edward? What is the influence that her deceased sorcerer father (Ephraim Waite) has over her? The only thing standing between Asenath and her unspeakable plans to sow death and madness is Edward's graduate advisor, professor Dan Upton. But is Dan too late to stop what has been set into motion?
The DVD also contains the short films Maria's Hubris by Patrick Weber and the animated short film From Beyond by Michael Granberry, an interview with director John Carpenter regarding Lovecraft, and openers from the H.P. Lovecraft® Film Festival.

Synopsis: Protagonist Gabriel Martinez (Rodrigo Sepúlveda) is a journalist obsessed with finding the truth about the death of a colle...ague and friend Aníbal Neira (Gilberto Villarroel) who was brutally murdered while researching a news article on American painter Richard Upton Pickman (Renzo Oviedo) who's disturbing work recreates the mythological monsters of Chilean folklore and other aberrant creatures. Martinez through an art professor (Luis Alarcón) tracks the artist to Santiago. Soon the journalist arrives at Chiloé where the painter resides and experiences an intense and overflowing nightmare when he discovers the truth about Pickman and himself.
Originally shot on 16mm then edited on Betacam SP with English subtitles, Chilean Gothic, based on a strong screenplay by Gilberto Villarroel, winning the Festival Internacional de Cine de Valdivia best script award.
Other films on the collection include Geoffrey Clark's animated version of "In the Vault", Austinite Cathy Welch's 1981 B&W take on "Pickman's Model", and Giovanni Furore's Italian version of "Pickman's Model". Plus Djie Han Thung's "Between the Stars" based on a story fragment by H.P. Lovecraft.
American author H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) is one of the masters of gothic horror literature from the early 20th century. Presented here for the first time are three different interpretations of Lovecraft’s short story about a morbid painter named Richard Upton Pickman, who created from his fiendish brush "unbelievable loathsomeness and moral foetor." Lovecraft’s tale is a perfect example of Edgar Allan Poe’s unity of effect principle and Lovecraft succeeded in painting a story as meticulously shocking in its realism as any painting from Richard Upton Pickman. The only question that remains is: Are you Pickman?

"The H.P. Lovecraft Collection ® Volume 3: Out of Mind" is EXCLUSIVELY DISTRIBUTED by Microcinema DVD. To order this DVD and/or other Microcinema titles, go to: www.microcinemadvd.com
Synopsis: Acclaimed by Lovecraft fans worldwide, this Bravo!Canada television show starring Christopher Heyerdahl (Blade: Trinity, The Ch...ronicles of Riddick & "Kingdom Hospital") is available now for the first time on DVD and includes many extras.
"Out of Mind" casts an entertaining eye on the work of American writer H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937), one of the early 20th century's masters of gothic-horror literature. The film offers an encounter with Lovecraft and enters into his world. Engaging in a kind of game around the writer, the film playfully winks at many of the themes characteristic of his work: the occult, cursed books, monstrous creatures, and the world of dreams. Out of Mind draws its inspiration from Lovecraft's actual personal correspondence and many of his stories, carrying the viewer through a labyrinth "beyond the wall of sleep."
The H.P. Lovecraft Collection Volume 3: Out of Mind DVD includes:
• "Out of Mind: The Stories of H. P. Lovecraft" - television feature film
• Two audio commentary tracks by writer/director Raymond Saint-Jean, actor Christopher Heyerdahl, and cinematographer Serge Ladouceur.

"The H.P. Lovecraft Collection ® Vol 2: Dreams of Cthulhu (The Rough Magik Initiative)" is EXCLUSIVELY DISTRIBUTED by Microcinema DVD. To order this DVD and/or other Microcinema titles, go to: www.microcinemadvd.com
Synopsis: The cult of the Sleeping God is on the rise. Mr. Moon is dealing with the current emergency usi...ng methods imitated by the Night Scholars (methods that he does not fully understand).
When a Dreamer on a South London housing estate performs the ritual sacrifice of her two young children, Mr. Moon closes down the subsequent police investigation and has the Dreamer quickly interned at a secret location. Moon and his silent assistants deliver a grotesque sculpture found at the scene of the crime to Kenneth Reece Warren, a man who already knows too much. Warren was a psychiatrist and a former Night Scholar who now owns The Outsider Art Gallery in Hoxton.
Moon wants to discover more about the occult Sigil that can be used to restrict the influence of the Sleeping God on the Dreamers. He uses an experimental truth drug on Warren and proceeds to interrogate him about his experiences during the Falklands war and his knowledge of the Sigil.
Warren tells a disturbing tale: he was working for the Ministry of Defense on a covert mission to study the liberation forces in action, part of a large scale psychological profile of the modern British fighting man. Warren’s unit, led by Colonel Shaw, were instructed to establish a temporary command and control centre in an abandoned army hide on the south side of the islands.
They dispatched a five-man team, Delta Three, to an isolated farmhouse in search of an Argentine patrol. However, the unit members returned traumatized by what they experienced there. When Warren’s psychiatric skills were required his mission was compromised and Colonel Shaw decided to lead a night march to secure Cairnstone Farm. Inside the walls of the dilapidated farmhouse, Warren encountered Mr. Wilson, who was possessed by a soul of some entity from Earth’s distant past. Wilson reveals to Warren the origin of the Sleeping God and gives him a shield against its influences – the Sigil.
Moon is shaken by the chilling implications of Warren’s narrative. However it strengthens his conviction to reunite the Night Scholars and resume the Rough Magik initiative.
