announces the CYA NRO/SNRO Seminar, hosted by Ontario Sailing, to take place at the Port Credit Yacht Club March 5 - 7, 2010. Cost of the seminar is $170+GST. All Club Race Officers or National Race Officers who plan to apply for their NRO or SNRO certification in the next 3 years should attend.

The International Laser Class Association (ILCA) is now accepting bids to host its World events in 2013 and 2014. Bids for 2013 Radial World events are due DECEMBER 1st, 2009.

What a fabulous sailing year we are having in Ontario – top finishes for Ontario sailors at the Canada Summer Games, great successes for our Ontario Sailing Team members and Ontario sailors on the National Team, the new dinghy instructor certification process was rolled o...ut, an increase in membership, addition of the Ontario Sailing Maple Leaf Club, new regattas in new parts of the province and strong funding from the Ministry of Health Promotion! The funding we get is directly proportional to both our membership numbers and to the donations from our membership and that is why it is time for our Annual Fundraising Drive.

On Saturday, November 7th, there will be 2 streams; Club Leadership & Learn to Sail. The morning General Session will c...over Saftey of Staff Boats & Trailers and the Lunch Session will cover the New Long Term Athlete Development Program Direction.
Club Leadership topics will include: Strategic Planning; Addressing Club Racing-How Ontario Sailing Can Help; Environmental Considerations Around Your Club; The Economy & Your Club-Round Table.
Learn to Sail topics will include: Running a Sailing School From a Volunteer's Perspective; NCCP-Coach Certifications; Traveling Race Team Logistics; Maintaining Your Fleet
Sunday, November 8th, is for representatives from the Ontario Sailing Training Centres & their coaches, Ontario Sailing Team and Ontario Sailing Development Team athletes, high performance programs and their athletes and coaches, coaches and anyone else interested in high performance training and athletes.

Ontario Sailing wants to make our clubs, schools, camps and afflitiate members aware of a bill that has been brought forward in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The Explanatory Note of the bill is below as well as a link to see the full bill. Bill 30, Protection of Minors in Amateur Sports Act, 2007
We want to dr...aw attention to this bill because, if it is passed, our members may need to make sure that all Race Officers, Judges, and other Volunteers as well as hired Coaches/Instructors, etc. who work with children under the age of 18 have had a criminal check done and given to the club.
