Handmade By Hapa Metalgami - Original Silver Origami Jewelry
My unique artisan jewelry will be on display and for sale at the SF Japantown Craft Fair & Island Jam on Saturday, June 20, 2009.
Each piece is individually handcrafted and kiln-fired. Since the sculptures are hand-folded (not cast), each piece has slight variations. No paper was used in their creation.
My Metalgami Crea...tions are inspired by Hawaiian, Japanese-American and International themes.

Hey Gabriel, Thanks for the question. Initially the material I use is composed of small silver particles embedded in a clay-like binder. I fold this silver-embedded clay material and fire it in a kiln. The extreme high temperature burns away the binder and only the silver particles remain. Then the silver particle...s sinter together producing the 99.9% pure silver origami sculpture.
