Hannah talks to ...Metro about her upcoming tour with Jason Donovan by ANDREW WILLIAMS - Thursday, July 31, 2008

Hannah Singer Hannah Ild, 27, is Estonia's highest profile musical export – and the country's tourism ambassador. She's released six albums at home but is making her international debut with Everything Is Changing, out now, before setting off on a British tour with Jason Donovan later this year. The piano-playing crooner rele...ases her new single, Please Please, this week.

Hannah
Is it demoralising playing in front of audiences here who have never heard of you?
It’s a new start for me. I have ten years’ experience, so hopefully I won’t be making mistakes. My success hasn’t been overnight. I’ve worked hard for it. I know success is valuable when it comes.
What was the first song you wrote?
I was 13.... I won a competition with the song. It was called Childhood Land. It was about thinking you’re grown up when you’re a teenager.
I wouldn’t do Eurovision myself. If you are a good singer you usually end up at the bottom of the table

Hannah
How do you describe your music?
It’s from the soul. I put all my feelings and experiences inside the songs. My music is from the heart.
You’re supporting Jason Donovan. Have you heard of him?
Of course. He was very big in Estonia when I was a teenager. I admire how he was so successful and has now worked his way up again ...after his experience with drugs. I find his story very inspiring. I’m hoping to have a great time on the tour.

Hannah
Who else was big in Estonia?
Dodgy Eurodisco acts] Dr Alban and Haddaway [laughs]. I was listening more to Alanis Morissette though.
What’s been your most extravagant purchase?
I’m not very materialistic and I don’t like shopping. I only buy things when I need them but I like jewellery. I bought a white gold necklace from... a nice boutique in Cannes recently.
What songs can’t you stand?
I spent most of the summer in France. There is a terrible song by a French artist with a deep voice who tries to sing in English, ‘Sun, sex and beach’. It is so awful. They play it every hour on French radio.
