Charity and Event Overview
The Stonebrae Classic is to be held April 12-18, 2010 at the stunning TPC San Francisco Bay at Stonebrae. In just its second year, the Stonebrae Classic has a goal to generate more than $500,000 for Bay Area charities and non-profit organizations. Through tournament proceeds and the innovat...ive TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program, 100 percent of the daily and weekly ticket proceeds will be distributed to participating organizations.
Founded in 1990 and owned & operated by the PGA TOUR, the Nationwide Tour identifies Golf Professionals who are ready to compete and win on golf's biggest stage. As the official proving ground of the PGA TOUR, two out of three PGA TOUR Members are Nationwide Tour alumni. Each season the Top 25 players of the Nationwide Tour earn their playing privileges for the next PGA TOUR season.
The inaugural Stonebrae Classic Champion, Michael Sim, earned his 2010 PGA TOUR credentials early, with an automatic promotion after his third victory of the 2009 season. His six-shot victory at TPC San Francisco Bay was the springboard to a successful campaign that resulted in a top-60 World Ranking and appearances in two Majors -- the U.S. Open and PGA Championship.
The Tournament Host for the 2010 Stonebrae Classic is future Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, whose 127 Foundation also will be the primary beneficiary of proceeds from the Wednesday Jerry Rice Celebrity Pro-Am competition.
