The weather cooperated this year. Thanks to all of the volunteers and sponsors that made our 5th Wild Steelhead Festival such a great event. Thanks also to our special guests at the Friday night fundraiser dinner, Assemblyperson Jerrod Huffman, Superviser Mike McGuire, SCWA David Manning (and spouses) for sharing the evening with us, and who contributed much to the discussions that surround wate...rshed health, fish habitat, and the importance of cool, clean, clear water.

To our great Friday night speaker Jim Norton, he has changed lives, so say two emails I received after his presentation. Thanks Jim!

Thanks also to Rick Baker's Boy Scouts, the Watershed interns, and the CCC's for the help with the children at the Trout pond on Saturday, untangling lines, cleaning fish, and educating, educating, educating.

Jerry Myers is interviewed in Jim Norton's film, "Salmon: Running the Gauntlet" and has some very wise observations about watershed ecology and the importance of salmon nutrients in streams even 900 miles from the Pacific Ocean. He and his wife, Terry also know where to find big, beautiful Steelhead.

Loved your fish !!!!! I did not realize the Russian River Steelhead Was on display .I wish i would have read this before going. Your exhibit was well done . Your husband was/is very proud of your work ! He does a great thing free lance wri...ting from what i understood , also all about fish and their habitat. How special that you share this love for fish. Thank You for what you do. I told your husband about Mermaidfest in Oct. and want to get you there. It is strictly Sonoma County exhibitors . Please come to it to just have fun. I hope to start a Mermaidfest in San Francisco for all venders to be able to vend. Happy February! February is "Wild Steelhead Month" in Sonoma County by proclamation of the City of Healdsburg, the County of Sonoma, and the State of California. Read the 3 Resolutions at the link below and envision a run of 50,000 wild Steelhead in the Russian River as there was as recently as 1968 when the Russian was the third best wild Steelhead river in California.
