Heathwood Inn Bar Harbor I had dinner with the friends I went clamming with the other day. We ate the clams and mussels we harvested. What a great meal! I love mussels, but they taste so much better when you harvest them yourself. And we had a stuffed clam appetizer made with the Quahog clam we found. Yummm!!

Heathwood Inn Bar Harbor This is the section of the trail that we finished in the dark. I went back today to take some photos. I wish I was a better photographer, because you can't get a sense of the beauty of the gorge from these pictures. I sat on a rock over the waterfall for a long time just to enjoy the sights and sounds of the trail.

Heathwood Inn Bar Harbor This is why our island was named "Ile des Monts Deserts" or Island of Bare Mountains. Mount Desert Island today. Many of the mountain summits are bare granite. Sargent Mountain has a nearly 360 degree view over the island. Just spectacular!
