The Book Case Our new website has arrived! - you’ll find it in the usual place but looking somewhat different, and there are still changes to be made. And we’ve now got Nick Wilding’s "Calder Valley Christmas" DVD in, fresh from its launch at the Picture House last night! And Unemployed Philosophers Guild mugs and finger puppets and things.
The Book Case Just in are BBC CDs of some of the classics - Wuthering Heights, Hardy, Dickens, Austen ... all at £4.99 a pack, which is a huge reduction. Ideal for dark evenings! Plus chunky mugs based on the old Ladybird Bicycle and Motorcar books, in sturdy red boxes.And Beano wrapping paper and notebooks. We do like to be random.
The Book Case ... and The Book Case’s current Top 10 books will feature this weekend’s Independent on Sunday Hitlist! We based it on bestsellers over the last few months. There was much debate.
The Book Case Anne Lister, Halifax lesbian extraordinaire! BBC2 are going to do a couple of programmes about her, and the film company is looking for people enthusiastic about her diaries to be interviewed. Ian was a 34-year-old property manager in Basildon when he was made redundant, and decided to apply for every job in the Guardian recruitment pullout - along the way he broadened his scope by applying to be the English football manager and head of the Liberal Democrats.
