More people of all backgrounds need to learn the facts so they can consider whether or not they want to join the register by making an informed choice, not one based on negative word of mouth and erroneous and overdramatized accounts in the media.
There are not enough people registered, but there are severe shortages of registrants that are Asian, African, Aboriginal, Latino and of mixed ethnic descent.
Thousands of people worldwide have an active request for an unrelated match so they can get the transplant that will give them a chance to survive.
