Henrietta @ Home This girl's bedroom is pure fantasy, designed by Top Design winner Matt Lorenz, of ML Design Studio in Chicago, for this year's Lake Forest Show House. We discovered it on Hen's buddy Elaine's brand new design blog, The Snoopster. (http://thesnoopster.wordpress.com) Check out more photos there, along with Elaine's i...nspirational finds and interiors.

Henrietta @ Home Is it that school is out and they're suddenly omnipresent in the house? Or that Hen's little chicks live in rooms that are (still) awaiting finishing touches? (It's called pacing yourself.) Either way, we're thinking kid rooms, and how to design one while navigating around the land mines presented by Princess prints a...nd Star Wars sheets. We'll have all the answers in our new Sunday section on July 5. But until then, check out these cool digs for kids, let us know what you think, and post your own pics to Fan Photos. Can't wait to see 'em!

Henrietta @ Home For those who were interested: this is the dining table in desperate need of new chairs. Ignore the bad (nonexistent) styling job.

Henrietta @ Home Hen's in dire need of new dining room chairs. (The first step is admitting you have a problem, right?) Is there a Louis in her future? Should she upholster, slipcover, opt for metal? Weigh in (and see great ideas from Hen's pals) here ...

Henrietta @ Home The great dining chair debate begins
Hen is in need of new dining room chairs. The current chairs have endured the slings & arrows two children can deliver and are (ahem) a tad disheveled. Much as we love a good re-do, it's time for a new. A durable-yet-stylish new. We're considering a Louis Ghost, even. But is that... really, truly over? Yeas, nays, suggestions? And, if you Louis-ed, would you cushion? (see pic)

So many cool ideas, guys, thanks! I'm going to move this chair discussion to a photo gallery, so I can put up more pics.

Ikea has really comfortable faux (!) armless "ghost" chairs for only $99. They have aluminum legs though. It's a great value, especially since your kids are still young enough to experiment with permanent markers like mine! They are great to sit in, no cushion needed. I have them around a round 60" dark wood pedestal table in the dining room. Really makes the space look bigger.

Henrietta @ Home Things we need: A house cocktail
Do you have a go-to drink at your house? We grabbed these nifty ice trays this weekend and filled them with peach nectar. Drop one in a glass of Prosecco, et voila, instant summer party drink. (Hint -- these are from surlatable.com, we found ours at Kmart, so look around ...) Thanks ...to Country Living, where we spotted this idea, for the summer style boost.

Henrietta @ Home Suddenly, it seemed like they were everywhere! Or did we just have beanbags on the brain? Whichever, we pulled some of our favorites together for a page in Sunday's House & Homes. But here's what we're wondering: What do YOU think of the beanbag comeback? Like it or hate it? Yea or nay? Hen awaits your comments ...

Henrietta @ Home Hen's thinking slipcovers, thanks to a Marimekko-loving friend. Bemz makes covers for IKEA furniture (perfect, since IKEA furniture comes apart, meaning it's easier to recover) and we love their Marimekkos. So, our question: Would you buy an IKEA sofa just to get this look? Hen's favorite sofa, to be honest, is alw...ays a white/solid neutral sofa. She dates prints, but can't commit. You?

Slipcovers are a great way to change around a room, or re-purpose a sofa or chair. My sister has an IKEA sofa in her family room, and she bought it in part for the ease of the slipcover. Last year she bought a new one, as the old one had finally given up the ghost after a number of washings.
My sofa is a Henredon, it is almost 40 years old, has been re-upholstered and was oroginally in my parent's living room. Quality, classic furniture never goes out of style!

I've always loved this Marimekko pattern. But...not sure I could commit to it on something as large as a sofa!

Memorial Day weekend is here, and with it comes the start of outdoor entertaining season. Hen has spied a few things that might help keep up the style standards in the old backyard. Like these monogrammed melamine plates...
