Hirsch Vineyards Last night we opened a bottle of the 2008 Hirsch Vineyards "The Caretaker" Old Vine Riesling. It was made by our assistant winemaker Darren Delmore from the few riesling vines left in the old vineyard. He made the wine in glass jugs in the caretaker's cottage where he stayed during the 2008 harvest.

2009 has come and gone like the proverbial through train. After a year of very light, evenly spaced rains, eight inches fell the first week of May just as we were bottling the 2008 Bohan Dillon. This gave the vines sustained moisture far into the summer. ...
