Yesterday a friend asked me if I'm thinking about going back to school. I confessed that yes, it has crossed my mind. I'm a degree junkie?! I said that I miss school, because everything is so clear. You don't have to wonder if you're doing right or doing wrong at your work: you do, they grade, you know where you s...tand, you finish papers, complete courses, and get degrees. It's easy.
"I don't know what the schools in this country do to you people," was his response.
I guess I had better spend some time with my kids this week, just being and doing, without judging too much. Seeking the 100%, the gold star, the red smiley face, the contentment and satisfaction of the teacher--sometimes, that is not the right way to spend a beautiful day, and it's better to find something good to do, regardless of what others say or think, and to just do it.
I'm writing that on my agenda for the coming week. I hope I can make it happen.

Homeschool Kohl Children's museum is VERY cool. I wish they offered Spanish workshops there. They have daily activities, like art appreciation. Our kids like the grocery shopping area. Anna loved being the cashier and taking people's money. I wish they'd had fewer sugary foods, and more nutritious play food choices. White ri...ce? Sugary kids' drinks? They ought to know better! But the ideas and the exhibits all around were wonderful.

Homeschool Visit to the Kohl Children's Museum in the suburbs of Chicago. We're hoping to learn about the economics of the grocery store, smart shopping for fruits and veggies, and healthy eating... among other things. We're going with life-long friends who are meeting us there, with their families.

Should we name our school? We have debated about this. The recent SUBWAY debate has made me consider whether having a school name would make us more legit. For now, we have considered:
The Fields School
Fields Academy
Hobart Homeschool
Concordia Home School
Elementary Education Inc.
Learning Together
For now, since we have...n't really settled on a "style" and probably never will, because we SO hate to be categorized and limited... we may never arrive at a name, either.

Homeschool Today's event is about BUBBLES and the kids will play outdoors. Dress warm and prepare for a messy and fun day. The event repeats at 1 pm also. Don't forget your dollar to get in. :)
