Hope Equity is an online sustainable giving initiative launched in June of 2007 by Heifer Foundation, a U.S. registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

A new approach to philanthropy, Hope Equity is building an online community for sustained giving to end hunger and poverty while caring for the earth. Through an online social networking community, like-minded individuals, organizations and businesses can come together to give directly to specific countries and causes to create their own “Portfolio of Change.”

With Hope Equity your charitable dollars are placed in endowments that allow for long-term giving to each of your specific areas of interests. You can track your charitable dollars the same way you track the investments in a stock portfolio. Instead of a monetary return, you will get a return on your social impact though reports from the field.When you give to Hope Equity, you will have the option to not only choose what country endowments and causes your group supports, you will also be able to have your endowment gift invested in our green portfolio, which is limited to strictly green, socially conscious companies.

Hope Equity was intentionally built to be flexible enough for donors from all walks of life and areas of interest to make this their one-stop for philanthropy. Donors who are part of a social network can come together to give together. Corporate partners can give directly through Hope Equity, or donate proceeds from the sale of a particular product(s) directly to Hope Equity, and then give their customers and constituency direct access to see their purchasing power at work for a better world. It not only builds funds for Hope Equity endowments, it builds brand loyalty for socially responsible entities. We have the tool for partnerships and we have the experience and the skills to meet the need for partnerships in giving. We believe Hope Equity will serve as bridge to not only the next generations of donors, but also the next generation of philanthropy.
